Return of Rock:

Lifted from their forthcoming new album ‘Dreamstacks’, which is set to arrive later this year, ‘Ruthless’ sees them return to those warm and riveting indie-rock textures they have earned a reputation for. Brimming with bright and euphoric aesthetics from start to finish, they return to the fold with one of their most passionate efforts yet.”

Aesthetic Magazine:

“Cleveland-based singer-songwriter Kultures (aka Justin Miller) is back with his uplifting new single….

In Favorite Number”, an orchestra of electric guitar flurries, swirling synth patches, and ambient manipulated vocals propel an encouraging message to stay confident and follow your path no matter how difficult or confusing life may be.”

Cleveland.com:

“Miller’s vocals are front-and-center on the album’s eight tracks, backed by lush, layered background singing, ambient guitar and the occasional saxophone or guitar solo. The single, “Favorite Number,” pairs winding synth parts with Miller’s yearning lyrics, while the spunky “So Far Away From the Clouds” layers vocal textures and growly guitar solos.”

Berlin on Air:

“This fabulous indie pop song fills our ears like a fresh breeze . Light, a little dreamy and enriched with a lot of wonderful and flowing sounds. The brand new single Favorite Number of the Cleveland-based artist Kultures radiates pure beauty for us, whereby the atmospheric character is especially in the foreground.

Sophisticated drums create a gentle and precise rhythm, which is accompanied by accompanying piano sounds and flat synthesizer pads in the background. In the musical center there is a soulful and expressive lead voice, which convinces above all with its considerable range. Favorite Number is a song that in a special way seems almost “floating” and completely detached from the ground. The result is a truly sophisticated musical arrangement that promises the listener recognition value in any case. Just great!”

Dusty Organ:

“Cleveland, OH singer-songwriter Kultures will be releasing his debut self-titled album on June 4th. His tranquil, folktronica style comes to life on his new single “Favorite Number”. Fans of S. Carey and early-day Bon Iver will find a more pop-forward likeness with Kultures.”

Vents Magazine:

The single comes off your new self-titled album – why naming the album after the band?

I decided to make this a self-titled LP because it was really the collection of songs itself that gave me the inspiration to start the project. As I was writing, I didn’t initially have any intent to release the songs under a new moniker, but as time went on, the music started to form an identity of its own, which ultimately led to the creation of Kultures.

Fifteen Questions:

Take us through a day in your life, from a possible morning routine through to your work, please. Do you have a fixed schedule? How do music and other aspects of your life feed back into each other - do you separate them or instead try to make them blend seamlessly?

My schedule changes depending on where I'm at in the song creation process.

When I'm really locked in on songwriting and sonic exploration, my schedule becomes extremely flexible and usually involves waking up late and going to bed even later. The goal is to maintain as much mental and emotional freedom as possible in order to allow new ideas to express themselves.

If I'm working more on things like recording techniques and video work, I try to have a more "normal" balanced schedule and block out time during the day to get through the tasks at hand.
